Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp
Private concession in the Okavango Delta.
Meaning 'place of the giraffe', Nxabega is known for its elegant, tented accommodation with breathtaking views of the Okavango Delta. Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp is an intimate, luxurious camp offering water and wildlife experience on twice-daily game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles, mokoro and motorboat excursions.
A path links the 9 en suite tents through the bush along the edge of the island. The tents are raised on wooden platforms, and though under canvas, the room's décor and large beds give an air of opulence. Each tent has a front porch where two chairs and a table have been set up overlooking the permanent floodplain. A wooden door has been built into the front of the tent to replace the usual zip, and a large ensuite shower with burnished teak floorboards completes the luxurious accommodations.
Nxabega Tented Camp's main building has a large dining area, a lounge with comfortable armchairs, books and board games, a well-stocked bar and a warm fireplace perfect for winter. The high thatched central area is surrounded by wooden decks of varying levels, offering a choice of comfortable seating areas. Meals can be taken around a long, candle-lit dining table or on smaller individual tables on one of the decks or by the pool. Burnished teak floors, locally crafted fittings and stylish furniture characterise this high-standard Delta camp. The pool is linked by a raised walkway where cushioned chairs and loungers are set up under the shade of umbrellas, overlooking the permanent floodplain. The spa at Nxabega offers a range of massage options, including aromatherapy, Swedish, Indian head and feet massages done in the privacy of the guest's room.
