Chiefs Camp
Chief’s Island in the Moremi Game Reserve
Named after Chief Moremi of the Batawana tribe, Chief's Camp is situated on the northeastern tip of the famous Chief's Island in the Moremi Game Reserve, where the floodwaters generally infiltrate in June or July and remain for 4 to 5 months. Chief's Island is considered to have the finest game viewing in southern Africa, home to the big five.
Accommodation at Sanctuary Chief's Camp is in 10 bush pavilions which at 140m2 are some of the largest in the region. Guests can escape the heat in their plunge pool or enjoy the view over the surrounding waters through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The en suite bathrooms include a spacious outdoor shower and a large bathtub. In addition to the bush pavilions is the private luxury suite, the Geoffrey Kent Suite, named in honour of the luxury travel pioneer. The suite can accommodate 4–6 guests in 2 pavilions and includes many extra features and services to ensure their every comfort, including their own waitperson and a personal housekeeper.
The main areas of the camp are decorated in a 'safari chic' style with plenty of places for guests to enjoy some downtime between activities. A dedicated playroom for the kids allows parents to enjoy the peace of the comfortable lounge or a cooling dip in the pool. Additional seating overlooks the floodplain with steps leading down to the boma. The extension of the dining room and the addition of a pizza oven provide guests with a first-class safari dining experience.
