Selinda Camp is built on a shady island overlooking the waters of the Selinda Spillway - a waterway linking Botswana's Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando marshes, rivers and floodplains.
A small, luxury-tented safari camp, Selinda offers a peaceful and private experience far from the crowds but with unrestrictive and exhilarating wildlife viewing.
Selinda has only 3 spacious and luxurious tents. Reached by a sandy and well-lit path, the rooms at Selinda are wooden structures with canvas walls and topped by a canvas-and-thatch roof. All the tents have a private veranda from which guests have a picturesque view of the floodplain. The main en suite bathroom is spectacular; like the bedroom, the bathroom is fully enclosed and insect-proofed by a mixture of canvas and mesh, and the centerpiece of each bathroom is the large, egg-shaped stone bath. The tents are beautifully appointed with furniture and features collected from around Africa.
The main area at Selinda Camp is vast. It has been constructed from wood and thatch with a spectacular viewing deck and relaxing lounge area. The design of the central area ensures that there is never a barrier to the stunning views and wildlife that are a visual constant of the camp. Breakfast is served around the traditional campfire, where guests also enjoy after-dinner coffee and liqueurs. The art gallery is set apart from the main area built above a temperature-controlled wine cellar. The plunge pool is surrounded by grass and is tucked away from the main area for privacy, an ideal way to cool off on a hot afternoon.
The Selinda area has game-rich floodplains that host a huge variety of bird life, antelope, zebra, cheetah, wild dog, lion and large concentrations of elephants. Nocturnal species include serval, porcupine, springhare and leopard, and predator viewing is exceptional, including Selinda's hippo-killing lions, leopard, wild dog and cheetah. Selinda camp offers a choice of boat cruises, catch and release fishing and morning, afternoon and night game drives with experienced, professional guides in custom-built 4x4 Land Cruisers. In addition, short walks, accompanied by a guide, are ideal for closer inspection of the smaller creatures and flora of the reserve. Siesta time can be spent in an elevated hide overlooking a waterway, watching the passing wildlife.
Selinda Camp offers a more relaxed approach to activity times and the lodge is designed to supply spectacular views over the floodplains and waterways. Each suite includes a pair of binoculars and a camera, allowing guests to capture the beauty of the Selinda Spillway during their stay.
