savute safari lodge
The Savuti region, in the western sector of Chobe National Park, is a land of shifting landscapes and legendary wildlife encounters. Known for its fierce predator dynamics, high concentrations of elephants, and the seasonal zebra migration, Savuti is one of Botswana’s most iconic safari destinations. Its centerpiece, the Savuti Channel, is a sometimes-dry, sometimes-flowing river that shapes the life around it—and along its banks lies Savute Safari Lodge, offering guests a front-row seat to the unfolding drama of the wild.
Perched on the edge of the channel and shaded by ancient camelthorn trees, Savute Safari Lodge delivers an intimate and refined safari experience in this dynamic wilderness. The lodge accommodates just 24 guests across 11 thatched and canvas suites, plus one family unit with two double bedrooms—an ideal option for families or small groups. Rooms are decorated in neutral earth tones that echo the surrounding terrain, and each features a combined bedroom and lounge area, a full en suite bathroom, and an expansive private deck. Recently added outdoor showers allow guests to enjoy a refreshing rinse under open skies, adding an extra layer of connection to the landscape.
The main lodge building is a beautiful structure of thatch and timber, thoughtfully designed across two levels to maximise both comfort and views. The upper level houses a stylish cocktail bar and lounge area that opens onto a wide viewing deck—perfect for sundowners and late-afternoon birdwatching. The lower level features a relaxed dining area, library, shaded daybeds, and a cozy fireplace lounge. Meals are often served alfresco on the lower viewing deck, which overlooks a waterhole regularly visited by elephant, antelope, and sometimes predators. A raised swimming pool deck offers a quiet spot to cool off during the day, with sweeping views of the Savuti Channel just below.
Whether relaxing in the pool or watching elephants file past your private deck, Savute Safari Lodge offers a timeless safari experience where the rhythms of nature are always close at hand.

- Eleven thatched canvas suites and one family unit
- Private viewing decks and outdoor showers in all rooms
- Two-tiered main lodge with upper and lower viewing decks
- Cocktail bar, indoor lounges, library, and open-air fireplace

ACTIVITIES
Activities at Savute Safari Lodge focus on expertly guided game drives in open 4×4 vehicles through the surrounding Savuti region. The area is famed for its large lion prides, often seen hunting buffalo, zebra, and other plains game. During the summer months, typically February and October, the seasonal zebra migration brings thousands of animals to the Savuti Marsh, drawing in predators and creating unforgettable wildlife spectacles.
Game drives offer the chance to explore a variety of habitats, from open grasslands and marshes to rocky outcrops and woodland, with opportunities to see leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, and a wide variety of bird species.
For guests interested in the region’s human history, visits to the ancient San rock art at Gubatsa Hills can be arranged. These paintings, etched into the rock by the area’s earliest inhabitants, offer a glimpse into the long and layered story of Savuti—a place where the wild past is always present.
