chitabe camp
South-eastern of the Okavango Delta
Chitabe Camp borders the Moremi Game Reserve in an area containing a fascinating combination of open floodplains, wooded islands and a perennial delta hosting a wide variety of wildlife. Chitabe Camp has been operational since 1997 and has developed an outstanding reputation for loyal, dedicated staff and superb guiding. Although located in the Delta, Chitabe is a land-based camp renowned for its wild dog population.
Chitabe Camp has 8 traditional, stylish "meru" style tented rooms. All rooms are built on raised wooden decks linked by walkways to the main areas. The en suite bathrooms have additional outdoor showers, and each room has a private viewing deck overlooking the floodplains.
The beautifully designed, spacious, thatched main area of Chitabe Camp is accessed by a wooden walkway which leads to the lounge area. The cleverly designed bar, hewn from a single trunk of a sausage tree, is fully stocked with a wide variety of drinks, while in the centre, large steps lead down to a round boma with a fire pit. The small library boasts comfortable and stylish sofas and a great view over the plains. Brunches and dinners are served in the large, thatched, open-sided dining room with views over the surrounding plains, and a secluded hide in front of the camp offers guests another relaxing spot to view the wildlife. Surrounded by sun loungers and naturally shaded by the enormous trees above, the swimming pool is a great place to cool off in the heat of the day.
