tubu tree camp
Western side of Hunda Island, in the Okavango Delta's Jao Concession
Tubu Tree Camp is a traditional-style tented safari camp built on raised wooden platforms. Tubu Tree Camp offers both land and water activities, depending on the fluctuating levels of the Okavango Delta's floodwater. The diverse vegetation that ranges from dry Kalahari sandveld to mopane and riverine forests on the edge of permanent waterways and floodplains ensures incredible game viewing.
The 8 east African meru-style tents are stylish and have been built on raised decks. Each room has a lovely veranda with wonderful views overlooking the floodplains. The tents include wooden door entrances and roll-down canvas on the large windows in the front for viewing. The outside shower also affords excellent views, although each room has an inside shower for when the weather is cold.
Tubu Tree's main lodge includes a large open deck looking out over a picturesque floodplain, a lounge area with leather sofas, and a small library and bar decorated with various traditional carvings. A small pool with umbrellas and sun loungers is accessed down a wooden walkway, and Tubu Tree includes a boma area where a fire is lit in the evenings and early mornings.
